For the drabble meme, [livejournal.com profile] daisy_knotwise requested something featuring herself and [livejournal.com profile] billroper, on the grounds that they appeared as characters in the webcomics I drew before there was a web. Like many "journal" webcomics, those cartoons were about the people who read them and also about a science fiction club that secretly traveled in space and time (some gags and storylines of which I'm re-using in AKOTAS these days, for Arthur's webcomic-within-the-webcomic). In the 80s my readership/cast was the membership of Chicago's Moebius Theatre, so the secret space program was called Moebius Labs. In the 90s, when I took it into my head that the Labs ought to be wholly my own intellectual property Just In Case, the name was retconned to Infinity Labs. In the 00s Infinity Labs had intermittent appearances in my daily cartoon season of 2003-2004 and in a brief flirtation with Flash animations in 2006, but nothing in the existing, no-longer-updating bodies of work suggests the Labs don't continue on today.

Here's a glimpse of the part Gretchen and Bill play in Infinity Labs. )

Here's the first entry in my responses to the drabble meme (where on LiveJournal "drabble" doesn't necessarily mean 100 words like it did on Usenet). [livejournal.com profile] finnyb asked for a piece featuring Hawkeye Pierce. This isn't a new work, but it's new to the internet: it was written for an English composition class in 2003.

Title: Certain Rules 1/1
Author: [livejournal.com profile] scarfman
Characters/Pairing: the Doctor, Henry Blake
Rating: PG
Setting (spoilers through): both franchises as late as 2005
Disclaimer: This work is derivative of property of the BBC and Fox. No profit shall be made and no market of the owner(s) is infringed upon.
Summary: Prompt from [livejournal.com profile] billfl who won a drabble off me in the Stump The Author meme - "Henry Blake says something that genuinely surprises the Doctor (#9, if he fits into your M*A*S*H/DW storyline anywhere)". In either of the crossover chronlogy paradigms I use, Henry Blake is long gone by the Doctor's ninth personality, so only a spiritual meeting was going to be possible. And I'm not sure the criterion "surprises" is quite met. But I only had to write the first ninety-four words; in context, the last six are obvious.

It was done. )
