Here are cartoons from the fanfiction sketchbook website. Journal cartoons in a separxate post. Cartoons may contain unmarked spoilers.

In case these are the only entries here that you read all week, I should mention I've imported this journal to Dreamwidth and intend to delete it soon because of the T&Cs mess; details in recent entries tagged lj. I'm not certain yet I'll keep doing these over there.

Featuring characters and/or images from DOCTOR WHO, STAR WARS, GET SMART, STARGATE: UNIVERSE, M*A*S*H, and STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE. )

You know, my Netflix M*A*S*H rewatch is at its end, and it’s been fourteen and a half months since my wife passed away, but Goodbye, Farewell and Amen has never been something I could watch again just because it’s happened to come on and I’m thinkin now’s not the time.

You can't have too much diversity. There's centuries to make up for.

Today I miss AKOTAS enough to wonder how the spreadsheet formulas would have to be updated.
There are all those years I skipped over.
The trick may be to get enough distance from AKOTAS so that writing it feels like writing fanfiction.
In the 90s I did that with Dailies characters from the 80s.

Reviving AKOTAS as daily gags again is an attractive prospect (assuming any revival), but today I'm thinking no, better some new format.
On the other hand, tryna do AKOTAS as a novel only reminded me that gag panels are my best thing. Hmm.

Everything I know about the shootout at the OK Corral comes from Star Trek, Doctor Who, and M*A*S*H.

Years ago and for years, when I could connect to Usenet by telnet or when the Google UI and search function was usable, I was a regular reader and poster at alt.tv.mash here. I once got into a big argument with a couple of people, a regular and someone who was new, over Henry Blake’s children. I maintained that there were two boys and a girl, and the other guys maintained there were two girls and a boy.

I maintained that there were two boys and a girl because at least two episodes feature Henry on the phone with a son Andrew and because the child born in the first season finale was a boy. Yes, that means the single daughter was called by two different names in different seasons of the show, but so was his wife and no one was arguing on that basis that Henry had two wives.

The new person left the group because I could quote dialog to support my position and he couldn’t similarly cite specific sources, and he wasn’t prepared for that to fail to persuade me.

Both of them argued that Henry had two daughters out of three kids on the basis of the family photos on Henry’s desk. The contention was that the triptych photo frame contained one photo of a daughter, one photo of the wife and a different daughter, and one photo of a son. Now, the basis of my expertise in M*A*S*H trivia was and is the audio recordings I made on my cassette recorder of the original airings of the first six years in the 70s. I didn’t and don’t own the episodes on DVD. So I was as unable to refute an argument based on visual evidence as the newbie was unable to rebut me.

But this month [February] the first five season of M*A*S*H showed up on Netflix.

As I write, there is a freeze frame from Henry In Love (season two, episode sixteen) on my tv screen. It’s from the moment when Hawkeye says, “Secure in the knowledge that very few Japanese correspond with your wife,” at timestamp 17:44 [EDIT since writing this, I’ve become more familiar with the Netflix display and realized that that figure was time remaining, not time elapsed]. Hawkeye is holding up the photo triptych to display it to Henry. If memory serves (cuz Google Search sure doesn’t) this is the episode, if not the single shot, that was being cited as the basis for the existence of photos of two Blake daughters.

The shot frozen on my tv at this moment clearly shows that the people pictured in the photos in the triptych frame are, left to right, first a daughter, second the wife with a son and the same daughter again, and third the same son again.

Perhaps it is small of me, after all this time, but I am unable to spot that and subsequently refrain from posting here that the primary premise in the argument against mine on this subject was false.
