Today the Church Board at First United Methodist Church of Omaha on which I presently serve, at the spurring of our pastor the party for whom the possible personal and professional consequences are the greatest, voted unanimously to adopt a new marriage policy that includes the performance of same-sex and other gender diverse marriage ceremonies in defiance of the vote in February of the global Methodist Conference.
