In case these are the only entries here that you read all week, I should mention I've imported this journal to Dreamwidth and intend to delete it soon because of the T&Cs mess; details in recent entries tagged lj. I'm not certain yet I'll keep doing these over there.

I haven't updated about my tv watching since before my daily Doctor Who rewatching hit the series' end just as the most recent season concluded in December. I decided to hold off going back to the beginning of Doctor Who till I had the software and hardware to transfer my VHS collection of PBS airings to electronic. Then I've never gotten that together. I'm rewatching the latest season weekly.

My summer SG-1 rewatch got as far as mid-third or -fourth season, derailed by the new tv season before I had to decide whether I was going to stop at season six, the point when we began watching during original run. I started Clone Wars and I'm about half a dozen episodes in after about half a dozen weeks.

I was watching Daredevil but I realized I didn't care enough about how it ended not to skip from episode three to the end. I did kinda want to see the Punisher's trial scenes so I found out which episodes they're in and I'll go back.

In terms of current tv, how caught up I am at Hulu depends on whether it's an overtime month at work. Also in the fall I looked at several of my longtime favorites and realized I've satisfied my appetite for them. So there are three or four shows I make a point of watching the day after airing, and four or six shows I allow to accrue on my queue where they sit for a week or three.

I wrote here, at the time, of disappointment that my first viewing of the Doctor Who Christmas special The Husbands of River Song didn't affect me more due to associations with my late wife. But the second viewing went more as I'd expected.

This year's Doctor Who Christmas special features guest star Richard E. Grant, who has been associated with Doctor Who before. For the show's 40th anniversary in 2003, just before Doctor Who returned to tv after sixteen years, the BBC website debuted a six-part animated adventure Scream of the Shalka by Paul Cornell (later Hugo nominee for the 2005 Doctor Who episode Father's Day and the 2007 two-parter Human Nature/The Family of Blood), with Grant voicing the "official" [that is, until the revival began airing in 2005] ninth incarnation of the Doctor. As I had done with the [definitely unofficial] Rowan Atkinson ninth incarnation from the 1999 Red Nose Day telethon sketch authored by Doctor Who's current head writer Steven Moffat (Hugo winner 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2011 for Doctor Who scripts), I incorporated the Grant ninth Doctor into my cartoons. Here, in salute to Grant, is a selection of cartoons featuring the Doctor in that incarnation. )

Say, you can always tell whether a Twitter mirror post has been edited for completeness by whether the proper tags are on it yet.

  • Wed, 13:23: RT @fearingamerican: UN sent a letter to US in Dec. 2011, calling for police departments to explain civil rights violations in connection with Occupy protests.

  • Wed, 20:56: Oh well. There's a filler idea I've had all week, hoping not to need it. Half an hour more and it'll be too late to draw a real one.
  • Wed, 21:29: Filler it is.
