Tuesday qtrhorserider had her six-month followup scans for her brain radiosurgery. The nodes in the lungs and in the brain have both grown. The regular oncologist and the radiation oncologist both feel it's important to go after the brain nodes first. Since the precision radiation treatment seems to have been ineffective, the next step is to try general brain radiation. It'll be daily dose sessions of about fifteen minutes each like the course of radiation she had after her first course of chemo. The radiation course goes about two weeks and about a week after it concludes we check to see how it's done. Once the brain nodes are dealt with there'll be more chemo for the lung nodes. Wednesday we go in so she can be fitted with the mask for reducing exposure for the healthy brain tissue.

Date: 2014-02-20 03:02 am (UTC)Thanks.
Her second round of chemo (for the lung nodes; the first was as followup to the lumpectomy, about a year before) finished up just over a year ago. Going through the radiation treatments for the brain nodes seems to be worth putting off more chemo to her.
