Tuesday [livejournal.com profile] qtrhorserider had her six-month followup scans for her brain radiosurgery. The nodes in the lungs and in the brain have both grown. The regular oncologist and the radiation oncologist both feel it's important to go after the brain nodes first. Since the precision radiation treatment seems to have been ineffective, the next step is to try general brain radiation. It'll be daily dose sessions of about fifteen minutes each like the course of radiation she had after her first course of chemo. The radiation course goes about two weeks and about a week after it concludes we check to see how it's done. Once the brain nodes are dealt with there'll be more chemo for the lung nodes. Wednesday we go in so she can be fitted with the mask for reducing exposure for the healthy brain tissue.

Oh no. I wish her strength. Good though that she had a break... I can't even imagine starting up again :(

((hugs and Frango mints))
I suppose the chances of this treatment resulting in radioactive spider superpowers are slim, but we will be hoping nonetheless. Best of luck as you go into battle. All the old crew in Chicago is rooting for you.

Blech - good luck to the Missus in this endeavor! Hope they knock the cancer flat without likewise knocking her flat!
