I don't recall reading anything like this about the kid at Virginia Tech, but the kid at the Omaha mall last week did it because he was setting out to become famous. Nine days later at least the local news outlets are still talking about him. There's gotta be other alienated kids in their basements right now, watching all this, and also not necessarily understanding the difference between famous and infamous, taking all this in.

Notice I haven't used his name. I genuinely don't remember it, and I think that's appropriate. I don't remember the Virginia Tech kid's name any more either, and in fact I think I'll go back to the entries I wrote contemporaneously and take it out.
