My Toshiba Satellite A305 Synaptics touchpad driver icon keeps disappearing from my Vista icon tray, and when it does my touchpad stops working till I restart the computer. There's nothing in the Synaptics Pointing Device help file to say how to turn the driver back on. It does say there's a Touch Pad Disable Zone function activated and deactivated by "touching the corner", but it doesn't say which corner and when I tried touching the corners nothing happened. Then I tried disabling and reenabling the touchpad with Fn+F9 and that worked - but the tray driver icon doesn't go away during the disablement, so the problem I'm having isn't simple disabling. Then I looked at the Toshiba support forums where there was a thread from someone to whom this happens after viewing YouTube videos; no solutions were suggested that were effective, including Fn+F9. It's a minor annoyance (mostly I use a mouse, but I use the touchpad too, to the point that when I'm at a desktop PC the lack of touchpad throws me), but it's an annoyance. How do I restart the driver without restarting the computer? Also, how do I keep this from happening in the first place?
