No fun at all. Power failures are worse, though. No internet, no TV, no lights to read by...

Also, I read that as "service outrage" at first.

That's why I try to keep at least one "evergreen" movie on my iPad and iPhone.

A movie you never mind seeing again.

This is a movie you have loaded into some tablet, smart phone, or music player, and just leave there. Someday, you'll end up in the middle of a power failure. If there's light, fine, you can do a lot of things. But if it's dark, you have battery power only. (With modern LEDs you might last for hours, so reading is still an option.)

Or suppose you are traveling, and your vehicle has a breakdown, or the weather turns bad. You are stuck somewhere, for a few hours.

So I tend to keep movies I never mind seeing again loaded on things, just in case. (I also keep a lot of books on there.) The thing is, you can't be constantly changing what you have loaded, that's too much work. So it has to be something that you never mind seeing again, EVEN IF YOU WATCHED IT LAST WEEK. So it has to be something you like, and which you can watch over and over again.

At the time I started doing this, I lived on the 11th floor of an apartment building, and just as I was getting ready to leave for the evening, there was a flash, and the transformer in the parking lot under my windows exploded. Which told me I wasn't going anywhere, after all.
