When I was drawing the gags for the 19th (the Colonel Potter anniversary and the Talk Like A Pirate Day gags), I was thinking to myself, "Now, I've got a Doctor Who gag and a Star Trek gag, and I'm good to post my weekly announcement to Usenet and be on-topic to two of the three fanfiction newsgroups where I like to announce. Just alt.tv.buffy-v-slayer.creative to go." Then I thought, "What do pirates wear that Kirk, Picard and Archer ought to be wearing?"...

I would have picked Picard as the least likely to steal a man's eyepatch, but that just makes it funnier.
