I'm in the habit of looking at AKOTAS's traffic stats on the last day of the month. This month, you'll recall, I was featured at Eric Burns' Websnark blog for the flashforward to Salisbury Plain. Where x is AKOTAS's approximate daily unique hit count for most of this month, on the 23rd the daily count was about 3.3x.

The next day, .01x.

Since then it's been about 1.25x. I'll sure take it.

Also, this week I googled "arthur king of time and space" after my brother was emailed by a college buddy after reading about AKOTAS in a blog I don't know. First result of course, even before the site itself, was the 'snark. In the first five pages of results, as far as I looked, there were quite a few mentions in places I don't know. What people who like it seem to most often say is something along the lines of: Yes, the art/MSPaint sucks. Maybe the writing is unremarkable. But read a month's and you'll end up reading the archive.

I'll wager 98% of them, when they say "the arts sucks" they mean "doesn't look like Dragon Ball Z". Which, as big an anime fan as I am, I'm grateful for. I put you in the same catagory as Johnny Hart, Dik Browne, Mort Walker, and all the other newspaper strip artists.

Ok, so you don't draw like Hal Foster. On that same token, Hal Foster didn't draw like you, either.

In fact Johnny Hart was one of my adolescent influences, in art and gagwriting. And I like to point out that while Browne and Walker are/were masters, they've been replaced by the next generation on their strips; yet in two years Hart will hit the fifty-year mark all by himself, of which even Schulz fell short (by less than a year) (the flesh was weak).
