I dreamt my mother came over with a video that was a Doctor Who movie. It had Matt Smith as the Doctor and John Simm as the Master. I know John Simm was the Master because as we fastscanned through the last scenes there was a scene, the Master's last scene in the movie which scene I had somehow never seen before (perhaps it was a DVD extra), in which the Master exits a hotel where (in the story of the movie I, in the dream, knew) the Master had been impersonating a VIP. He and the well-meaning comic bellhop who'd been his assistant through the movie are pushing and/or riding a baggage cart, and we slowed to regular replay long enough for the bellhop to say something to the Master. The Master's reply was fastscanned through, but I made a mental note to go back later and find out whether it was, as I suspected, "I have estates?"

But it was the scene before that which my mother had brought the video to review. The movie's last scenes with the Doctor have him flying somehow in (parachuting? The shot I saw was Doctor's POV) to land on the top of a high bulding, probably the hotel, where River Song and a couple of companions are waiting; missing, and being rescued. The absolute last shot with the Doctor is a panning shot of the four of them sitting on top of the building: the Doctor, River, my stepdaughter, and presumably my stepdaughter's husband but I didn't see. They're discussing the Master, and the last line - after the shot has panned from the characters to the night skyline - is a female voice telling the Doctor, "Don't hate the hater." My mother had brought the video over to figure out whether it was River or my stepdaughter who said that. But I woke up before we decided.

I see someone had a Nutella, dill pickle, and Swiss cheese sandwich before going to bed last night.

But no! You see, this dream makes perfect sense for the genre; if [livejournal.com profile] scarfman had said: "I'm trying to remember a Doctor Who movie," instead of "I had a dream..." it would have read the same way, in either case (except for the inclusion of his stepdaughter and family).

(sounds like a pretty good episode, too ;-))
