For all I know, somebody already cleared this up in the part of the conversation not reproduced here, but just in case:

John Wyndham wrote "The Day of the Triffids", and although I occasionally got them confused when I was younger, he's not the same person as John Christopher. Also, it doesn't have tripod walkers in it; triffids are mobile killer plants.

LJ's mirror function doesn't pick up tweets that are replies to other tweeters, and it missed one where I reported that what was confusing me was that the Christopher story had been adapted to the screen as The Tripods.
