Glad you came out of this okay, Paul. I had a Chest Pain scare that turned out to be a combination of muscle strain and arthritis in my sternum last month, and I've been busily trying to amend my diet and exercise habits to postpone my first REAL symptoms as long as I can.

You appear to be assuming a certain inevitablility to it. I guess I did too. Certainly the reason it's been so relatively easy for me is as soon as it started I was all, "Chest pain? Left arm feels funny? To the Batmobile!"

My wife insisted on driving me, but when you're single call the EMTs and don't try to drive yourself.

I know my family history and my own cholesterol issues. It's not inevitable, but it is something I need watch closely. This little scare hit, alas, just as I'd changed doctors due to new insurance, and the new guy is treating me like I've never ever seen another doctor, don't have any useful prior information, and he needs to start from scratch.

(I'm going to see if my old doctor can send my medical records over to the new guy.)

And yes, everyone -- EVERYONE -- has given me an earful for driving myself to the ER that night. It wasn't one of my smarter moves.
