Wow, how many years did it take Microsoft to work out how to put anti-aliasing in MSPaint? (Is there an option to turn it off?)

When I was a comp sci major I had a prof who said that MSPaint had all the underpinning structure necessary to do everything Photoshop does; it just needed someone to write the code. Maybe he did it.
