• Fri, 19:23: #scifichat "Fanfiction" used to mean "unlicensed derivative work". Nowadays it just means "derivative work". We need another new word.
• Fri, 22:58: Woke up with postnasal drip last night, twice. Then I got to work at the call center and my voice was half gone. Glad today's done.

Well, we need that too. But I still say we need a new word that means "unlicensed derivative work". "Fanfiction" is no longer that word, and if there was no need for one there wouldn't've been "fanfiction" in the first place.

I think that Herbert's son and his cohort should never have been allowed to write fanfiction set in the Dune universe. While I'm at this, I love a good musical. I like the "Wicked" musical, but the BOOK? Bad fanfic. Blah.
