Since I don't have Arthurian texts here (aside from a couple of the Mary Stewart books), I did a bit of Wiki-ing. Discovering that there was no Emperor Lucius- indeed, that the current odds are that Arthur reigned after the final collapse of the Western Roman Empire in 476- wasn't much of a surprise.

What did surprise me, though, is that the timing lines up pretty well with Odocaer, the barbarian successor king to Italy, getting overthrown by Theodric.

Not, of course, that I expect you to sacrifice that much of myth for the sake of bringing in history, especially since Badon Hill's in play somewhere along here too, but the parallel does give me pause for thought.

(Also, it'll be interesting to see what Arthur does with Italy after he conquers it.)
