So here's my first Flash movie. It's a triangle beaming up to the Enterprise. I haven't found directions yet for imbedding a movie into a webpage, so here's a link. It's Flash 5, which is at least four years old, so I assume your browser will play it.

Edit1 I found embedding code on the web which worked locally, so let's try it here.

Edit2 Nope. Bother.

Edit3 It must be an LJ thing. Any other place I try it, it works.

When you say "triangle", do you mean "a triangle shaped character, as typical of the style I've established", or do you mean "a triangle, largely unremarkable aside from the effect I'm trying to demonstrate"? Because all I can see is the latter, fading in and out (which I assume is the transporter effect). Which looks cool, so there's at least that much. ^_^

(Yes, MS Word's Style Checker does hate me, now that you mention it... ^_^)

I THINK -- I'm not sure, but I THINK -- that a simple "img src" will do the trick.

Let's find out:

Nope. Never mind.

A Flash movie is not considered to be an "image", but an "object". The code required to embed an object is sufficiently complicated - partly because you need to do it twice over, once using the tag Internet Explorer recognises and once using the completely different tag Netscape recognises, to make sure it will show up - that I don't intend to attempt replicating it here. (Paul, you know where to find me if you want me to try and explain it to you.)

No, all graphical browsers use one or other of the two methods already mentioned. I think that browsers related to or descended from Netscape do it Netscape's way, and everyone else does it the other way, but I'm not 100% sure.
