Good for ushing - often a thankless task - but am wondering if it was your first -ever church service as welt as your first ush? It can work the other way. i once accepted the offer of an usher for a wedding "because he goes to church every Sunday". Sadly, I discovered afterwards that he spent most the ushing time talking to people he knew, and hadn't the first idea what he was supposed to do - my fault, of course, for not checking that he understood what the job involved
