Just to pick a nit: the Mac was revealed to the world in January of 1984, and I got mine the summer of 1984, when we were living in Rogers Park.
The dates are certain, but which apartment it was might be a little less so; the earliest image in my mind pictures it on the desk I had in the dining room of that apartment. (I forget; was it on Fargo, or Jarvis? Google Earth makes me think it was on Fargo, based on where I think the laundromat and pizza places were.)
Although I did have the cutaway drawing leaked from the brochure (and reprinted by EE Times) up on the living room wall in Evanston for a few months before they shipped the thing.
Oops; a little more review (trying to remember my walk home from the Howard Street el station, and bouncing there from Ridge in my old Pacer), I now think it was on Birchwood. In fact, the building still seems to be there in these images.
I confess, while I can still find most of the places I've been to, street names do not necessarily stay with me.

Date: 2006-05-24 11:57 am (UTC)Birchwood is the correct street, I'm sure.
I'll see about correcting the chronology too.
