For today's AKOTAS I'm running a rerun rather than come up with a new joke to cover old ground. I'm interested in audience opinion against the future, though: is a rerun better than a punchlineless filler?

I kind of like your filler, but then I tend to read AKOTAS a week at a time rather than as a daily.

I'd rather the punchlineless filler - one of the reasons I love the comic is it's focus on always producing new material, even if the material isn't always plot-based. And reading the reruns gets severely confusing - I thought today was a new plot point, then got very confused, thought I missed something, went back a page or two, couldn't figure out what I did wrong, then found the A/N.

And the little fillers are often interesting in and of themselves - my favorite being the one with Wild West Lancelot and Morgan flying on her flying machine at one point, because the fillers are almost a bit like the out-of-strip comics you sometimes do - worlds and ideas that didn't or couldn't happen but are amusing and sketchable...

I like the idea of reruns just to remind me of past plot points--but I don't like the idea of strips being included in the archives in more than one place, and yet I'm guessing it would be awkward to skip archiving the repeated strips.

I prefer new stuff, regardless of whether or not it's "funny."

Punchlineless filler for me.

I'd rather that if you had to do a rerun, it was because an element of that strip is going to be relevant to the strip you publish within the next few days (sort of like a recap - "previously on AKOTAS").

But otherwise, filler please.

Well, if it had included a (semi-?) panel of "Previously on AKOTAS ...", and given that I could expect some recent or near-future relevance (as I might read into your "to cover old ground", easy to miss though it is), I'd prefer it.

Otherwise, I'd go with the majority here: Preferring punchlineless filler over pointless reruns.

Heya. I found Arthur King of Time and Space through tvtropes, and pretty much marathoned the strip up until that point and have been keeping up regularly ever since.

In response to your question: I'm not really sure how I feel. IMO here the flashback seemed appropriate since it's been awhile since these particular characters were referred to, but I'm not sure about as a rule. Maybe split the difference, with flashback when we're going to revisit characters/plotlines that have been offscreen long enough where the audience may have forgotten them, and filler when that's not the case?

Dunno if that was helpful at all or not. ^^
