polling the delegation
Sep. 20th, 2010 08:23 pmFor today's AKOTAS I'm running a rerun rather than come up with a new joke to cover old ground. I'm interested in audience opinion against the future, though: is a rerun better than a punchlineless filler?

Date: 2010-09-21 04:27 am (UTC)And the little fillers are often interesting in and of themselves - my favorite being the one with Wild West Lancelot and Morgan flying on her flying machine at one point, because the fillers are almost a bit like the out-of-strip comics you sometimes do - worlds and ideas that didn't or couldn't happen but are amusing and sketchable...

Date: 2010-09-22 12:53 am (UTC)That actually was the reason behind the rerun I ran Tuesday. I've had the idea for years to use reruns as fillers and never done it, and after the response I've had to this audience poll I suspect I never will.

Date: 2010-09-23 04:53 am (UTC)In response to your question: I'm not really sure how I feel. IMO here the flashback seemed appropriate since it's been awhile since these particular characters were referred to, but I'm not sure about as a rule. Maybe split the difference, with flashback when we're going to revisit characters/plotlines that have been offscreen long enough where the audience may have forgotten them, and filler when that's not the case?
Dunno if that was helpful at all or not. ^^
