I think I see why it is people are upset about this new pingback function on LJ, but I'm not quite sure, when it seems to me it's just a tickbox that does what you'll already have been doing by cut-and-paste if you wanted to. The only cause I may have for turning it off is the way it spams my comment notification venues.

I think people are less annoyed about the pingback thing and more annoyed about the idea that people can crosspost comments they've made on people's locked entries to their Facebook pages. That seems a little skeevy to me.

Yeah, this is what the folks on my flist are all complaining about. You won't have to worry about me. I've never connected my LJ to Facebook or Twitter and I never will. They all have different jobs.
