The fourth strip from the end at the doonesburyc post here was the one that taught me about comic timing in delivery in comic strips. Or about, as webcomics culture calls it, the Silent Penultimate Panel.

I've got a book that has that storyline in it! I think it must have left a few strips out, though - a couple of the ones on that page don't look familiar. (I remember the one you pointed out, though!)
