Commenting on a post on my flist about the Lost series finale, someone wrote, "...Why are you bothering with this discussion? To show how smart you were for not getting involved in the first place?"

Because the show's a cultural icon like M*A*S*H or Star Wars or Miami Vice or any other that's made it onto the cover of a national news weekly. "They go through heaven's door" is this year's "Rosebud was his sled".

If Lost attains the standing that Citizen Kane has, I will be so disappointed.

From everything I have heard, the snowglobe in the finale of St. Elsewhere made far more sense.
