J.D. Salinger dead at 91

I confess that when I first posted this entry I did not notice that the website linked is The Onion. I genuinely spent twenty-four or forty-eight hours believing fanfiction had been vindicated by a major living American author. But today I saw this genuine quote from Salinger which pretty much does the same thing: "The true poet has no choice of material. The material plainly chooses him, not he it."
