IMHO, anyone who excludes any of the relational categories from their idea of fanfic is missing out, and that most definitely includes genfic.

My first effort at fanfic (recently posted) contained neither sex nor slash.

For that matter, neither did my second effort, which was more recently posted. Not that I am averse to writing a fanfic containing sex; it's just that both stories were way too short for even a wham, bam, thank you ma'am.

(Slash, on the other hand, holds no interest for me whatsoever.)
