I can only imagine where this piece of advice lead you.

I'll put it this way: Six months later I was describing to the person who gave me this advice how the whole thing had crashed and burned. He interrupted me, "You know what you're doing, you're thinking too much! You always think too much! Do you enjoy being with her?"

I said, "No."

He said, "Oh," and let me finish my story. And I think it could have saved everyone a lot of trouble if he'd asked me that question six months before.
