I've been wondering how much my voice in these journal posts is influenced by that of [livejournal.com profile] demiurgent, the only person yet to move me to employ the phrase "favorite essayist". Quite a lot, it seems to me, when I'm editing them. It makes me wonder whether my own voice comes through. I suppose this is the reason I posted the bio byte about being locked in the basement* (as opposed to all the namedropping in it). That story well predates any such influence, particularly the turn of phrase "'Right for tight, left for loose' (unlike Arthur Dent, I listened to what my mother told me when I was young)", which dates from my contemporary accounts of the incident, of which I am particularly fond, and which was the primary conscious motivation for writing the story here. Anyway, the issue's of interest to me since I seem to be doing a lot of actual blogging lately.

His style is so pervasive that I've found myself using elements of it, too. The very fact that it's so accessible and comfy is a large part of why we enjoy his writing so much, I think - or maybe that's just me.

Still, your thoughts are clearly your own, and your style comes through as well.
