theferrett asked what we'd like to see in the next Star Trek movie. "What Star Trek plotline/bad guy would you like them to haul out and refurbish, and why? ... (Of course, they could choose to eschew all continuity and go with yet another new baddie of their own, but where's the fun in extrapolating that?) ... Also, I'd like for Uhura to actually have a plot, thankew." I copy-pasted what I've said about Uhura and Spock earlier, and went on:

As for storylines and returning villains, I've seen J.J. Abrams quoted second or seventh hand that Khan is one return villain he's considering. I'd rather see a whole new plot, but including tantalizing, throwaway lines in the script suggesting that the crew is reliving the old adventures but they never go quite the way they did in the other history branch.

And I'd like eventually to see time travel to/from the future to see whether Picard, Sisko and/or Janeway exist in this history branch. The second movie might be too soon for this, developmentally, but the cast at least is contracted for three so there'll be another.

I want to see "Amok Time" redone. Did T'Pring survive the destruction of Vulcan? How much has Spock told Nyota? This is probably too grown-up for a screen treatment. Meh.

Ummm... I want to see Harry Mudd rebooted.

I have been toying with the idea of writing a fic in which Q shows up to demand an explanation for what the heck happened with the timeline and threaten to fix it . . .

Second the wish that we see the reboot Harvey Mudd. I want a tribble story, but I doubt they'd ever do that for a movie. Doing Khan would be tricky, since all the changes happen after he and his people are already in stasis, but I'd love to see the Khan/McCoy scene from "Space Seed" with new!Bones.

I also want to see this alterniverse's Soong family.

I? want to see Pon Farr handled in the new verse especially with regards to Uhura. How might that change or not change now that there is no longer a Vulcan and all? I get the feeling it would be more important than ever to er...fulfil that and I would love to watch the complications from it in terms of the Spock/Uhura thing unfolding.

I think it's going to have to be Klingons. I'm reasonably sure that one of the strange effects of the time-alteration is that they've got bumpy foreheads again. If we can have a Klingon commander who would like peace, but believes in honour too much not to fight, and an officer from the House of Duras who ... is a typical Duras, then that should provide plenty of conflict even before the Enterprise shows up! (I don't insist the honourable officer be from the House of Mogh, much less that he actually be played by Michael Dorn. Kang or Kor are also possibilities).
