Y'know, kateorman said in her LJ that she felt the Uhura/Spock relationship was intended to put a spoke in the wheel of slash writers, and I thought "If they know fandom well enough to be concerned by that, they must also know that it doesn't work like that..."

Actually (as you can see) I've been inspired to write slash for the first time in my nearly forty-year fanfiction history. So, yeah.

For me, it was more of a "ooh, canon evidence that Spock has a libido when he's not in pon farr!"
