The touchpad on my Toshiba Satellite laptop running Windows Vista has suddenly stopped working. I've made sure Fn + F9 is set to "enable", no soap. What else could it be?
I did look, thanks. The icon wasn't there. I'd thought I'd remembered there used to be one (and, now that the problem's fixed, it's back), but it wasn't there while I was having the problem.
I clicked around in the PDF manual that came with/on the machine and looked up the touchpad properties in the Device Manager, and it said that there was no driver loaded or necessary.
I ended up calling Toshiba technical help. The guy asked me if I was calling from the U.S. (I suspect I was talking to India) and had me detach everything from the laptop, including the power cord and the battery, then press the power button for twenty seconds, then five seconds, then power up again. It worked, but most of the time I was being talked through all that I was thinking, "I should have thought of restarting before I called."
