I looked from the Mac lab this morning and the favicon did appear at the AKOTAS index page with Safari. That's good enough for me.

But I handcode the site, and don't know PHP. Adding the favicon to future pages is no trick, but adding it to the more'n six hundred existing pages may be problematical.

You should only have to add it to the index.html (or eq.) of the root directory. Any pages linked from there will use the favicon.

It's showing up on my browser now. Must've been a cache thing.

If Bill's solution doesn't work, and you use a stock template when creating AKOTAS pages, you should be able to insert the code using the search and replace feature in a reasonably useful text editor -- i.e., something a bit more than Notepad.

Oh yes. I don't know the Windows equivalents, but for Mac there was the mighty BBEdit, which later became Text Wrangler. You can search and replace whole directories' worth of text files, if you're so inclined.

I use one quite often in my own web work. I thought about mentioning it earlier, but the program I currently use actually has a semi-arbitrary restriction that makes it totally useless for the task in question. :/
