Opinion on Watchmen on my flist is pretty polarized. Count me pro. I thought it was a more than reasonably accurate adaptation to film of the sourcework, and I thought it was a great movie.

Exiting the theatre I heard more than one complaint that the story was opaque. I asked [livejournal.com profile] qtrhorserider for her opinion, since she doesn't know the sourcework while I do. She said she didn't have any trouble, though allowed that her familiarity with the source genre may have permitted her to fill in blanks if necessary.

The only thing we've discovered we're in disagreement on is whether Dr. Manhattan's anatomical correctness was a prosthetic or CGI.

Noooo, don't tell me the Atomic Blue Wang was a lie! *sob*

(CGI, definitely. A prosthetic would have flopped around more.)

Yeah, when she woke up with three of him, and got mad, I just couldn't see what the problem was....

You're right though, it just didn't move in a natural way. That's why I figured that it was CGI.

I hope the film does well. I had the same reaction as I did with Doctor Who in 2005:

They've changed things but I'm really impressed and so much of the original has been respected. I really hope that there's something there for new people!
