[livejournal.com profile] qtrhorserider and I were in the Chicago area for the last week of October for scarfgirl's wedding (What'll I call him? scarfgirlboy? Oh wait, he has an LJ.). Impressions from the trip:

I'd forgotten how debilitating it is to spend forty minutes driving forty blocks.

We stayed with [livejournal.com profile] vainpageantry and [livejournal.com profile] ladydragondark and the boys. By the time the week was up, the two-year-old was crying whenever we went out the door just like he does when [livejournal.com profile] vainpageantry leaves.

I requested The Way You Look Tonight for the father of the bride dance, but they played Sunrise, Sunset. I did get to dance with [livejournal.com profile] qtrhorserider to The Way You Look Tonight.

The recessional music was Throne Room/End Title. That's what I wanted, if [livejournal.com profile] qtrhorserider and I ever renew our vows with the real ceremony we didn't really have the first time. At the rehearsal we were warned to keep a straight face, but too many of the other attendees were taken by surprise.

You can't buy a slip for wearing under a dress any more. I went shopping on behalf of [livejournal.com profile] qtrhorserider the morning of the wedding while she and the bridal party were at the hairdresser's, and the best I could do after four or five stores was a half-slip and a camisole. I'm told the other ladies were very impressed that I'd do that. Wull, how else'd it've got done?

After we met [livejournal.com profile] bluegiant's parents for brunch the day of the rehearsal, [livejournal.com profile] qtrhorserider told me she thought they were a little freaked out. I said, "Why? What did we do?" She said, "We were a little too much like the kids." Then bluegiantmom rickrolled the reception.

There will be pictures and video. First we have to figure out how to download it all, and that'll have to wait till we're not exhausted any more. We've been wiped out ever since we drove home Sunday. We're more'n a week behind on the DVR. Say, wasn't there something going on this week, something big, an election or something?

I hate to expose my ignorance, but...

What does "rickrolled" mean?

congratulations! His mom Rick-rolled the reception! bwhahahaha! how fun! I think I saw a catalog that has slips like that still. I'll let you know if I run across it again. I do have a slip for that - but it is too small for me.

There's always scarfsil where you not only get a s-i-l but people will also think you're cool enough to know Sil from DW. ;-)

I'm picturing you walking into Victoria's Secret. I'm picturing you with a deer-in-the-headlights look on your face.

There's nothing funny about shopping in a ladies underwear store. That's actually how Anthony Stewart Head met his wife, only in that case he was shopping for himself.

And naturally, many congratulations on your daughter's wedding.
