Following up on what I wrote earlier in the week, the judges have ruled me out of the Daily Grind on violation of the single-panel rule.

In other news, as of tomorrow I'll have posted a cartoon a day at AKOTAS 1500 days in a row since the start.

Seriously. Condolences and congratulations. I'm totally blown away. Was anyone else even still IN the grind? And if so, were they updating on weekends, too?

And hey, as you said: no more trying to stretch out what should be one-panel gags!

There are still a dozen people in the Grind. I think R. Smith is the only one, now I'm gone, who updates seven days a week instead of only the Grind-mandated five. I'm not sure about Brad Guigar but his index page doesn't seem to have an archive link where I could check.

Bummer about the grind, especially when I know you've worked yourself to the bone to meet deadlines for it before, especially as the sheer number of comics you've produced has proved. Also, I would like, once again, I'm sure I've done it before, to profess my deep love for your Lancelot across the arcs. He's got the best qualities of my favorite literary Lancelots, along with the lovely little touches that make him so much your own creation, and some very believable flaws that also make him so human, so awesome, and...I'm rambling again. But the newest modern arc developments have brought it to my attention yet again.

Lancelot as Belloq? I'm having a lot of trouble seeing that, on multiple levels.

But he's French. (And he's the second lead.)

But Belloq's a self-aggrandizing villain; Lancelot isn't either of those things.

What's more, Lancelot is constitutionally incapable of carrying Belloq's specific role in the plot: his life is built around respect for and service to a higher power that Belloq does not respect and is convinced can be made to serve him.

You make good points. But you're speaking to the man who slotted Lancelot in as Frank Burns.
