I just don't get Twittering. Even [livejournal.com profile] demiurgent's Twitters are banal to me. And I waited a week to say so, so I could be certain.

See that little passing thought you had about twittering being banal? You gave it a clever title (Out of koolaid) and even thought about how to tag it so someone could come back and read it again (demiurgent).

Overdressed as the thought may be, I can identify with it. Most of the twitters I read taste like junk food when there should be some decent content.

I suppose if you read enough banal in-the-moment thoughts from someone you may gain a greater picture of their personality in general, but I'd like to think people would reserve twittering for URLs and other meaty tidbits that just need a quick shout to be shared.

Nothin' bad about having *a* blog and using it for all kinds o' thoughts. One size may not fit all but it's gotta be a pain to maintain a blog *and* twitter as well. Maybe one day i'll be too busy to blog more than once a month then it'll be mostly twitters posted here via loudtwitter.

I'm still not sure what twitter is supposed to be about.

Twitter is just like facebook without everything that sucks.

I subscribe to the tweets of an online serial story - it lets me know when it has been updated. I find that pretty nifty.

I also subscribe to the tweets of my close friends so that we can be randomly stupid at one another wherever we are. Us young'uns need to be constantly in communication with each other, you know, otherwise the hive-mind breaks down.

I think a lot of people use it kind of like an IM system that they don't have to stay logged on to, so they can just keep a conversation going with someone as they get the chance to respond or something. Other than that, yeah, it's pretty much as interesting or uninteresting as the poster's daily life happens to be.
