Summary: You think you know someone.
It's popular "fanon" that the Doctor and Martha stayed with Ian and Barbara Chesterton while they were stranded in 1969, but if they did would Martha have had to work in a shop to support the construction of the timey-wimey detector?

Thanks, this is quite good. :D. Baby steps, Doctor, baby steps away from obliviousness.
For some reason, your default icon reminds me of Charles Schultz's Peanuts.

Ow. But it hurts so good. Very nice point (although, from what I've seen, Ian & Barbara don't strike me as racist, it's still a great point). And anything that drops a clue-brick on Ten would be most welcome.

Do Barbara and Ian know that the Doctor can regenerate? Admittedly I'm only familiar with the show canon (no books, comics, or audio adventures) but I'm sure it was never mentioned when they were around.

:D In other words, stop nitpicking ubergeek? It's a cute concept and a nice alternative to accepted fanon but if it's to be taken seriously it doesn't work.

Which I suppose is why it's not to be taken seriously yes?

Clever! I don't think Ian and Barbara were racist, exactly (bear in mind that I haven't actually seen any First Doctor stories), but then again, the standards for racism change with time and what was considered open-minded then might be considered differently now. I don't know if this was supposed to be taken seriously or anything, but if it was, then it's not quite as implausible as it seems at first glance.

This is the only 1969 fic I've seen that deals with the racism issue. (I'm sure there are others out there and I just haven't come across them yet - wish I would). THANK YOU for the realism.

I love it! It's nice to be an anthropologist and look at the discussions that center around race. As a black woman, I can honestly say that I am so grateful for the times we can all laugh about it. Especially when you wake up with it everyday.

Ouch. It works especially well for using two characters we love and think we know. Well done.
