Second-hand query

I'm wondering what impressions people who've seen Season 2007 of Doctor Who (the season with Martha in) have of it, who don't read what Whofandom writes.

In other words, if you read this journal, you're disqualified.

But maybe you know someone, otherwisely fannish or not fannish at all, who saw it on BBC or Sci-Fi or who's watching it on BBCAmerica now, who's voiced an opinion on this season or on any perceived trend(s)?

A former co-worker of mine had Opinions about just about everything, so of course she talked about the Doctor Who she was watching. Especially once she figured out I watched it, too. She disliked the religious overtones, but really enjoyed Martha as a character. I got the distinct impression from conversations with her that she didn't like Rose at all--the former co-worker had been a high school teacher at one point in time, and I think she preferred a companion who didn't remind her of past students.

My boss thinks the incidental music's getting worse and that Murray Gold should have his ego stoved in with a shovel.

Other than that he thought it was pretty good and they've done well to keep the momentum up for a third year. He did ask the other day if I thought they could really get a fourth high quality season.

A former colleague's 8 year old son didn't like the fact the Daleks weren't in it as much.

Oh, and my Mum keeps muttering 'bullshit' every time the 'lonely God' thing comes up. My Dad's persistent tic is to make a joke about everywhere looking like South Wales and to declare that nothing's as good as Horror of Fang Rock (we watched the DVD the day before Rose aired and he can't get over the lighthouse laser and Tom Baker's 'We'll all be dead by morning' line).
