What would you use to reattach a rearview mirror to the inside of the windshield?

Liquid weld for non-metallics is holding mine on, but I don't know if that makes it advisable.

Assuming that both faces are clean (as in no bolts or brackets or anything) it was probably originally attached with some kind of glass-glue. If you have a Pep Boys or a Napa auto parts or some equivalent nearby, I'd ask them if such goop is available.

Industrial-strength double-stick tape.

Any auto parts store will have the stuff, in a kit for reattaching rear view mirrors.

It's a bit awkward and scary when you are first holding the metal thing on to the windshield, but it sets fine. With care, and following the directions, I've only had to re-do the process once. (Of course, in the last 23 years, I've only had to re-attach three mirrors.)

When mine fell off a few years (and a couple of cars) ago, I found some sort of special glue that put it back on. It was at either K-Mart or Auto Zone, but I don't remember which. It held the mirror on until I disposed of the car.

They sell a special glue just for this at auto supply places. I bet you can get it at Wal-Mart or any other discount store as well in the auto department.

My husband got the special glue from AutoZone, and used a razor to make sure all the previous bits of glue had been cleaned off the windshield and the mirror before reattaching.

Go to Auto Zone. They have a kit for just this purpose. I have done it myself on more than one occasion. Trust me, it's easy.
