"Tom Jackman," the prisoner strapped in the other chair introduced himself.
"Hello," said the Doctor. "What did you do to gain our captors' interest?"
"I'm the genetic duplicate of my ancestor Henry Jekyll."
"Ah. But it's not exactly you they want."
"They're out of luck, this time," said Jackman. "Last time they killed him. He's gone."
"No assistance coming from that quarter, then?" asked the Doctor, straining against his bonds. Then the power in the room began to flicker.
The effect on Jackman was profound. "No!" he cried. "It's impossible!"
"The surge means Hyde?" the Doctor asked as the lights continued to dim and return. "There's no chance he's not gone, merely retreated?"
"He was killed in a barrage of machine gun fire!" Jackman objected. As if admitting defeat the lights came back on full ... then flickered again. The momentary respite seemed to have given Jackman time to think. "He did bring me back once, when everyone thought I was lost."
"Then perhaps it can be done."
Jackman shook his head, even as the lights flashed one last time and went out. "I'd only been frightened out of my mind - and Hyde blacked out London to get me back! To revive him after the damage he took - It would take an unearthly power source, and nearby. Something with almost infinite, even transcendental power."
"That may," said the Doctor, "not be a problem."
