Two sides to everything

In counterpoint to the argument discussed in my last post, calapine shows that the Doctor is more perceptive and appreciative of Martha's awesomeness than we think (Spoilers. Ameliorating though not entirely refuting the first argument.)

It does give the good points of the finale - I mean there's still lots wrong with how she never got that acknowledgement from the Doctor and maybe that was the problem with the entire relationship, but he (the Doctor) didn't seem to have a problem with saying she was great until she admitted she loved him and from that point onwards he seemed to clam up somewhat.

But from the show's point of view, and the audience's, I think he owed it to her to say it before she left. Not doing it made him seem pretty heartless.
