The webcomic news and critique blog Fleen notes that the webcomic Cat and Girl, celebrating its eighth anniversary today, "predates the turn of the century". Well, so do my webcomics, you know. The first comic strip I drew serializing a chapter of a story set in the fanfiction crossover universe I used 1996-2006 was updated 2/5/99. My weekly fanfiction posting till then had been all-text; I'd drawn, scanned and updated fanfiction cartoons before that, but not to a schedule. In those days my webcomics were targeted to webfanfiction culture instead of to webcomics culture, which was in its infancy and unknown to me; and which I assumed to be uninterested in fanfiction (which may have been an error) when I did initially discover it, or I'd now be one of the Old Men of Webcomics like Kurtz, Abrams and Gallagher. But I had discovered in fandom in the 80s that I enjoyed the company of those who also think in panels as much as that of those who also think in 'ships and retcons, and I did eventually decide to cultivate such online, with results you know. Anyway, here's that first chapter.
