"Never give up! Never surrender!"
May. 18th, 2007 07:38 amI sat down yesterday evening (early Friday morning GMT) to prepare the HTML page files for AKOTAS's first threefold Monday update as described in yesterday's entry here. Next Monday is AKOTAS's third anniversary. I have a newspost already drafted. Its first sentence is, "Three years, no missed updates."
I thought, "Screw this."
It shouldn't be more'n a few weeks I have to deal with lack of home internet and with updating weekdays from work. For those few weekends, I can: update Saturday's on Friday afternoon local time, contrive to upload Sunday's over the weekend somehow, and update Monday's on Monday morning (local time); and keep my perfect record, goddammit. AKOTAS's update reliability may not be the only thing it has going for it, but it's the only quantifiable thing and I'm not going to give it up without a fight.
That's the spirit!

Date: 2007-05-18 05:09 pm (UTC)Making the cartoons isn't an issue; I still have computers and a scanner at home. Getting online to update is the issue. At first I was thinking that it wasn't worth driving all the way in every weekend day to the campus where I work, to use one of the library computers to do something that takes thirty seconds. But, dammit, it is.
And before I reversed the decision I had been beginning to wonder whether, without the pressure of the daily deadline (self-imposed as it is), I might slack off making the cartoons. With some things it's better to live in ignorance.
