I botched the story I posted this morning. I really did.

See, the intent of the punch at the end of the story was to make you sympathize with Martha. The synergy between the last two paragraphs was meant to make the reader wince along with her. But everyone's reading it as a Doctor/Rose OTP ... including one of the moderators at [livejournal.com profile] lifeonmartha, where I was persuaded that the story reads so Doctor/Rose OTP that I ended up voluntarily removing the post that linked to the story here at my journal. Gotta chalk that one up to experience, I guess.

Fortunately, this morning or last night before I even posted that story, another inspiration came to me for one that's definitely on topic for [livejournal.com profile] lifeonmartha.

But, I ask you, would a Doctor/Rose OTPer create an LJ icon with a screengrab from the wall scene from Doomsday and the caption, "oh hai - i is hoald bilding up"?

I did sympathise with Martha even while giggling at your resolution to the other relationship. Maybe a little too much Rose for a Martha comm, but other than that it works.

Mmmmmmmmaybe, if the OTPer were deranged. You're not deranged, are you?

Gawd.

The story was Doctor/Martha with much mention of Rose. The ending was very, very silly. If people want to read more into it than that, They've Got Issues.

Hey there.

I'm here from the flist of [livejournal.com profile] smith_n_jones. If it's any consolation, any story should be able to support several readings. I didn't think it a Rose/Doctor OTP story. But I'm an odd duck in some respects.

I've had a bit of a bruising from that lot lately. Some are lovely, others are, well....ahm. I read it as a pragmatic, have-your-cake-and-eat-it solution. 73 years is a significant length of time from a Time Lord's perspective, but it isn't OTP. And best of all, it allows Martha to know what she's dealing with. I wish she was given a little more of that dignity in the show.
