Writing meme
Mar. 10th, 2007 11:14 pmWriter's Meme: Sometimes it's ok to pimp yourself out. Post a list of your top five favorite fics you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.
These are the ones I seem to recall I return to most often.
- Sela I like this one because I like courtroom dramas and the last chapter of this was the first courtroom scene I wrote myself. It patches a perceived flaw in TNG continuity, to wit: when Guinan is never wrong, but she states that Sela's existence is Picard's responsibility though alternate-Tasha boarded the Enterprise-C against alternate-Picard's wishes, how is that Picard-prime's responsibility? For bonus points it adds a dimension to the Doctor's relations with other peoples than Earthhumans, but vaguely enough that I had to go back and patch it.
- The Circle of Time The final execution of several years' planning for a story to wrap up all the loose ends left, accidentally or not, in the fanfiction I wrote or drew between 1997 and 2003 (including patching the thing from Sela). Timed to celebrate Doctor Who's 40th anniversary in 2003, at the last minute it was modified to accomodate the regeneration of tv movie Paul McGann eighth Doctor to BBC website Richard E. Grant ninth Doctor. Also, the ultimate Doctor Who/Star Trek crossover.
- More Alike Than They Know How I converted from the BBC website Richard E. Grant ninth Doctor to the BBC tv Christopher Eccleston ninth Doctor, while preserving ninthness. Note that previously when writing regeneration scenes not portrayed on tv I'd always had them witnessed by Starfleet captains, but in this story it went to Stargate Command field commanders.
- For To Carry Me Home My first full-length four-way crossover: Doctor Who/Star Trek: Enterprise/Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel. The only story on my fanfiction index told in first person. And, again, the last chapter is a courtroom scene.
- In Thy Image My full-length courtroom drama. If I remember correctly, the story of mine that generated the most discourse on alt.drwho.creative when it was first published, for the social advances for the Star Trek universe which I implemented in lieu of Voyager exploiting its own developments. Plus this is the only story to date I've reprinted here.
I'm not going to tag anyone because the first and last time I tagged people none responded.
