The replacement for one of the actually valuable things that the car thief trashed arrived from Amazon.com today: The Lancelot-Grail Reader, Norris Lacy ed.

One of the sources for AKOTAS is the Old French Vulgate cycle of Arthurian romances, a set of five romances also known as the Lancelot-Grail cycle, which was one of Malory's sources too. Except the Lancelot-Grail only exists in full, modern English translation in a five-volume set that runs hundreds of dollars and isn't in the library at the university where I work. So I'm working from the Lancelot-Grail Reader, which is the English translation abridged down to a single volume. Remember when Bedivere complained that there'll be two wars this year? They're both elements of the Lancelot-Grail that Malory left out, and it starts shortly after the guys get back from their trip to Rome. So it's good that this's come.

Now we just need to send in the paperwork on the settlement for the totaled car, and save up half again more bucks to get the car we've picked out.

Isn't your university library plugged into a decent interlibrary loan system? The Pacific Northwest interlibrary loan system that my college is a part of has never failed to turn up any book--including some pretty minor texts. And actually, it seems that my university library has a 5 volume set of what it calls "Lancelot (Prose Cycle)," which seems to be the same thing. That is actually pretty surprising because our university library isn't terribly large.

I guess this is a long way of saying if you're looking for some specific piece of information or something, let me know and I may be able to look it up for you next time I'm up at campus.
