Jul. 22nd, 2016 07:47 pmFirst cut at words, mild spoilers:
Downers
Those who were afraid of Star Fast Trek Furious will have plenty to dislike if they wish.
At least Kurtzman and Orci wrote Uhura/Spock without pretending to break them up.
Do all the Starfleet firsts in this history have to be named after something from the American Revolution?
Uppers
Disliking the previous two seems poor grounds for skipping this one.
No one can complain that McCoy or anyone else doesn’t get enough to do this time.
No underwear scenes!
I like that the whole crew is in the same version of the duty uniform (or if anyone’s not I didn’t notice).
The high concept in the conflict with the villain is purest Star Trek, and Kirk’s final words to him are both figurative and literal.
Happy 50th.
