Well, a good guy with a gun may stop a bad guy with a gun, sometimes. Not all the time. Seldomly enough, obviously, that unfairly or not no one hears about it. If not never, then insignificantly. If significantly, still certainly insufficiently.
Law keeping guns away from bad guys prevents most or all shootings from happening, as proven in all nations and U.S. states that have enacted it (Australia, the U.K, Connecticut). Gun control is more effective than good guys with guns are.
