Jun. 2nd, 2016 08:13 pmIf you remain a fan of the invented characters in my blue binder cartoons, the ones you were in: I had fun blogging kind of a lot about them recently at Tumblr and I decided I should reprint those entries at LiveJournal as backups.
This is a redraw of a strip I drew in the mid-80s for cartooning class at the American Academy of Art when the assignment was the first week of a newspaper strip. Shortly afterwards I drew all those gags as paper dailies as well, bringing the alligator and the agent into dailies continuity. (The aliens were already there. You may remember them from Arthur, King of Time and Space where they appeared as Morgan's fey allies and Merlin's webcomic characters. Aihok and Effex have been staples of my cartoons since 1977.) The alligator (who became more articulate in the next gag, a bit) was named Ned and was generally mistaken for a "child" of the Moreau Project, and went on to become a celebrity, a regular castmember of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Akili Tembo's roommate. Fun fact: at the time Phil Foglio was my roommate.
