May. 31st, 2016 10:57 pmIf you remain a fan of the invented characters in my blue binder cartoons, the ones you were in: I had fun blogging kind of a lot about them recently at Tumblr and I decided I should reprint those entries at LiveJournal as backups.
I saw Zootopia and it's making me nostalgic for the anthropomorphs from my pre-internet, pencil, notebook-distribution daily cartoons. (The universes where I'm a furry are not many degrees of separation from this one.) Ten years ago I made an ultimately self-defeated attempt to revive that universe online, which means now I have some samples of that aspect of it I can share.
Obviously this strip is set on the day I first drew a daily cartoon in 1976, during my sophmore year of high school. Akili Tembo (Swahili for intelligence and elephant) didn't actually come into the 70s dailies until my senior year, but for the online revival he was brought in at the beginning. The other people (i.e., including myself) and the setting in this gag are same as the gag in the actual first daily, drawn on notebook filler paper, blue lines and all.
More to come.
